Hong Kong Broadband Network (HKBN, simplified Chinese: 香港宽频网络有限公司; traditional Chinese: 香港寬頻網絡有限公司; pinyin: Xiānggǎng Kuānpín WāngLù yǒuxìangōngsī)
Established in 1999, Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited, the wholly owned subsidiary of City Telecom (H.K.) Limited, has been aggressive in developing its own network infrastructure with advanced technology to deliver various fixed telecom network services. HKBN is also the fastest growing broadband service provider in Hong Kong, offering a diversified portfolio of innovative products that service over 1,240,000 subscriptions for broadband, local telephony and IP-TV services.
Over the years, KBN has invested over HK$3 billion in establishing its own network. In June 2002, Hong Kong Broadband Network Limited was announced by Cisco Systems that it has successfully established the largest Metro Ethernet network in the world. In October 2005, HKBN has further become the first service provider in the world to achieve the Cisco Powered Network Metro Ethernet QoS Certified status.
HKBN’s Network covers 1.94 million residential homes pass and 1600 commercial buildings including Grade A office buildings in locations such as International Finance Centre (IFC), International Commerce Centre (ICC), Pacific Place, The Lee Garden, Cyberport, One Island East, etc. It is in the process of expanding network coverage to 2 million residential homepass, representing 95% of the total households in Hong Kong and 2000 commercial buildings.

With the brand new “Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH)” and “Fiber-To-The-Building (FTTB)” Technologies and its network coverage throughout 18 districts in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Broadband Network offers amazingly fast and stable broadband services with speeds of 100Mbps and 1Gbps respectively for both upload and download. HKBN provides a “Steady Speed” guarantee, ensuring the delivery of at least 80% of the advertising speed. ISP which has the least complaints received by Next Magazine in 2008 Next Magazine, the popular local weekly infotainment magazine, receives complaints on all consumer products and services, and they established a complaint ranking system in 2003 to show the top 10 companies receiving the most consumer complaints. HKBN is the only major telecom operator not on the list of 2008.
ISP which has the least complaints received by Apple Daily in 2008 According to the 2008 complaint statistics from Apple Daily, they had received 796 complaints on all broadband services. HKBN received the least complaints among other major broadband operators in Hong Kong.
Consumer survey results Survey was conducted by Synovate, a global research company, in order to measure the customer’s attitude toward HKBN service. The most recent survey was conducted from 19 July to 3 August 2008, and a total of 203 street interviews were conducted with respondents aged 15–54 who have access to Internet through residential broadband, and the results were as below:
